Big city mayors meet

The mayors of the country’s biggest cities are in Ottawa today to find out how they can get a piece of a $14 billion federal infrastructure fund.
For the first time, the mayor of the country’s biggest city is among the attendees. After three years of boycotting such meetings, Toronto mayor Rob Ford is in Ottawa to push for funding for his city’s subway expansion plan.
Ford says despite all of the media attention, he does not think he is a distraction at the meeting.
“I got along well with them. I didn’t think I was a distraction. I spoke my mind on the subways, I spoke my mind on the budget. I spoke on the $14 billion plan, not all of us agreed on that but I’m not here to ridicule the Conservative government. I think they’ve treated Toronto well.”
This group is part of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and meets two or three times a year.
