Badgerow to get 4th trial

A fourth murder trial has been ordered for Robert Badgerow.
Badgerow was convicted in the 1981 murder of Diane Werendowicz at the end of his first trial, but that conviction was overturned on appeal. The next two trials ended with hung juries. Crown prosecutors have now asked the Court of Appeals to order a fourth trial.
At issue was the judge’s decision not to allow the jury to hear that an anonymous call to police — containing information that only the killer could know — was made from a phone booth close to where Badgerow was working at at the time.
The Crown tells CHCH News it’s too soon to tell when the new trial will begin. They have to determine whether Badgerow will keep the same lawyers as before.
