Baby Kaylee’s parents make public appeal for kidney

Baby Kaylee — a terminally ill infant who made headlines two years ago — needs help again to save her life.

Her parents pleaded with the public Wednesday for someone to come forward with a kidney — because as Cindy Csordas reports, the fact Kaylee is a very sick little girl to begin with — is preventing her from getting on an organ donors list.

Response from SickKids below video:

SickKids Hospital issued a statement saying that they can’t comment on Kaylee’s specific case, but added:
“All potential transplant candidates are assessed using standard medical criteria. All children with progressive kidney disease are considered for transplantation.”
“Patients who do not have organ failure are not eligible for transplants. Every child at SickKids receives the same quality of care regardless of their medical condition.”
UPDATE: Response from SickKids hospital added February 24th.
