Baby Cambridge gets a name: Prince George

(Updated) The world’s most famous baby now has a name. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have named their new baby boy George.

His full name is George Alexander Louis. That would make him the future King George VII. He is named for his great-great-grandfather George VI, father of Queen Elizabeth II.

Louis comes from Prince Philip’s uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Royal watchers say Alexander could be a reference to old kings of Scotland.

The announcement comes as palace officials say Prince William and his wife Kate are spending “private and quiet time for them to get to know their son”. They left this afternoon for Kate’s hometown of Bucklebury. But before that, Prince George’s great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth paid him a visit at Kensington Palace late this morning.
