Two people are dead after a plane crash in Vernon, British Columbia this afternoon. Police say the small twin-engine aircraft came down shortly after takeoff and crashed onto a sports field adjacent to the airport. A RCMP spokesman said it appeared the plane touched the ground, cart-wheeled, and then burst into flames on contact. The victims have not yet been identified. The crash is being investigated.
