Thirty-eight people died when a Christmas Day flight carrying nearly 70 people crashed while attempting an emergency landing in Kazakhstan.

Officials say two children are among the survivors.

The flight, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, allegedly suffered a bird strike to one of its engines before crashing near the city of Aktau.

A government commission has been tasked with investigating the incident.
