Be aware of fraudulent callers

Hamilton Police are warning people to be aware of fraud scams where fraudsters are requesting payment through iTunes gift cards.

There has been an increase in the number of complaints involving suspects who are phoning victims and telling them they are responsible to pay a fee or debt by purchasing an iTunes gift card.

During these fraud calls the caller pressures that payment must be made immediately and that the only way to avoid consequences is if the payment is made promptly. The individual is then asked to buy an iTunes gift card, pay for it, activate it and provide the codes back to the caller.
