Ashley Smith inquest continues

The woman in charge of the Kitchener prison where Ashley Smith died is set to testify today at the coroner’s inquest into the teen’s death.

Cindy Berry has come under fire from other witnesses at the inquest. The deputy warden testified Berry ordered guards to stay out of Smith’s cell, as long as she was still breathing, to try and minimize use of force incidents.

Smith choked herself to death in October of 2007, as guards stood by watching.
