A man has been arrested after a Hamilton cab driver was assaulted Sunday morning.
The taxi driver was taken to Hamilton General Hospital after a male passenger hit him in the head with a steel object and then robbed him.
The injuries are not considered life threatening.
According to Hamilton police, the taxi was driving in the Brampton and Waterloo street area in the city’s east end at about 6:45 a.m.
As the passenger attacked the taxi driver, the cab veered toward a hydro tower.
Both the driver and the suspect lept from the car before it hit the tower.
Police said that the passenger ran away after the crash but was located and detained a short time later.
The passenger is facing robbery charges though other charges may be pending.
