Hamilton Police have made an arrest after a five month long investigation into a sub shop robbery.

Albert Murphy, 65, was beaten with a wooden club in a violent daytime robbery last June at Murphy’s Submarines. He’s run the shop on Dundurn Street South for nearly 40 years, and was working with his wife that afternoon when he was attacked.

Police say one suspect entered the store, placed an order and then demanded cash. They believe an accomplice stood by during the robbery.

Adam Exley, 40, has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and breach of probation. He’ll appear in court this afternoon.

Police say they’re still searching for the second man who’s in his 50’s.
