‘Armed and dangerous’ man wanted for murder by Brantford police

Brantford police are searching for a man they say is “armed and dangerous” in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2020.
Roger VanEvery is wanted for murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of attempt murder with firearm.
VanEvery is described as being five-foot-nine, 170 lbs, with dark hair, brown eyes and a “13” tattoo on his upper right arm. Police say he may be in the Brantford or Hamilton area.
A 42-year-old man died in hospital after he was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a Brantford motel on Colborne St. East around 5:50 a.m. on Feb. 8. Two other Brantford men, aged 25 and 26, were also injured and remain in hospital.
Brantford police previously arrested 22-year-old Shajjad Idrish, of Hamilton, in connection with the shooting.
Idrish is facing a slew of charges including murder, attempt murder with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Two other men have also been arrested in connection with the incident but police have not released their identities.
Members of the Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit are continuing to investigate this incident.
