The City of Hamilton says it has torn down a third building across from downtown’s Gore Park, which was damaged due to the collapse of two other buildings Monday.
The city says crews demolished 22 King St. East because it was unstable and in imminent danger of collapse.
It shared a wall with 24 King St. East, which was one of the two neighbouring buildings that collapsed Monday.
City officials say a report by an engineer on the collapse recommended the removal of 22 King St. East, and the city approved the recommendation.
The city says it will do what it can to preserve any heritage elements from the 19th century buildings.
No one was injured during the building collapse.
The City of Hamilton says it had prior, specific concerns about the safety and maintenance of those vacant buildings.
