Update:

A bizarre incident in Ancaster, which ended with an 80-year old man being killed by his own pick up truck.

The fatal incident on a residential street in Ancaster ended with police using their own cruiser to crash into an out of control pickup truck and bring it to a stop. It had been stuck in reverse and was doing circles.

Residents of the street rush in to help the driver, who was lying on the street. He had somehow fallen out and was struck by his own car. One of the residents who ran to help was a doctor, quickly performed CPR, to no avail, the man died on the pavement on Deerview Place just after 8 this morning.

The man has not been identified yet but we do know he was 80 years old and we’re also told by neighbours that someone does come in this area around 8 every Monday and collects what he needs out of everyone’s blue boxes, now it’s not confirmed but he does fit the description of who would usually be here. Officers said that they believe this was part of his regular routine, but they are not sure how he managed to fall out of the truck.

“Investigators are still trying to determine weather or not he suffered some type of medical issue in advance of the vehicle making contact, but there is some evidence that shows that the vehicle has made contact with the man.” Hamilton Police.

Both the police reconstruction unit and forensic team were on hand for the investigation which closed down the street for much of the afternoon.
