The bleachers allegedly stolen from the Ancaster Little League baseball diamond have been found damaged beyond repair.

Police say the missing bleacher boards have been found at a local scrap yard that called in after hearing about the theft.

Chris Davies, promotions and events director for the league, says he noticed Tuesday that one of the two sets of bleachers had gone missing from the park on Jerseyville Rd.

He says this happened at a poor time as they have a large upcoming charity event and baseball camp happening in one week.

“We are now concerned that they may come back and steal the rest of the bleachers,” Davies said in an email to CHCH News.

Hamilton police is looking into this as a theft over $5,000.

Officers told CHCH News that this is not the only case of missing bleachers being investigated. Police received a separate report of stolen bleacher panels at Glanbrook Arena on 4300 Binbrook Rd. in December of last year.

Davies says the estimated cost to replace the bleachers is $12,000. The league has set up a GoFundMe to help with the cost.

Davies is currently looking for possible security footage close to the snack bar near the baseball diamond.

The Ancaster Little League is continuing on with their regular baseball programs.
