American police pursue subpoena for records of car involved in Rainbow Bridge explosion

American police have issued a subpoena against Bentley Motors as they continue to investigate the cause of a car crash at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing last month.

Witnesses reported seeing a speeding car and then a plume of smoke when a vehicle crashed and exploded on the American side of the Rainbow Bridge checkpoint on November 22.

Police in Niagara Falls, N.Y. are pursuing a subpoena that seeks to force the auto manufacturer to release all records pertaining to the model of the car involved, a 2022 Bentley model called “the flying spur.”

A Grand Island, New York couple was killed in the collision at the bridge that connects Niagara Falls, New York to Ontario.

Investigators say they’ve recovered the vehicle’s data recorder, but it was severely damaged.

Bentley Motors has reportedly refused to release the vehicle’s specific records without a subpoena.
