Amber Alert cancelled after 1-year-old girl found safe

Waterloo Regional Police says the child at the center of an Amber Alert issued early Friday has been found safe.

The alert was issued shortly after 6 a.m. after a one-year-old girl was reported missing.

The child had last been seen in the Kitchener area.

Shortly before 7 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police posted a tweet that said the child had been found safe.

Police provided few details but said a male had been arrested.

Waterloo police say more information will be released later today.
