Aloha is a romantic comedy written and directed by Cameron Crowe (Vanilla Sky, Jerry Maguire). Originally scheduled for a Christmas 2014 release, probably with an eye on awards season, the film was rescheduled to May 29. The cast features Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Danny McBride, and Alec Baldwin.

In Aloha, a celebrated military contractor (Bradley Cooper) returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs – the US Space program in Honolulu, Hawaii – and reconnects with a long-ago love (Rachel McAdams) while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watchdog (Emma Stone) assigned to him.

One reason the film might have been rescheduled? The last one of Crowe’s films to premiere over Christmas was buried at the box office. We Bought a Zoo, the Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson family drama, opened in sixth place at the box office over the 2011 Holiday weekend behind heavyweights like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and second week showings of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the latter starring Crowe’s muse Tom Cruise. The fact that they still call Crowe “the director of Jerry Maguire” in the Aloha trailer proves that he still hasn’t lived up to the success of that Oscar winning hit.

Aloha is rated PG. Read our review here.
