All-female crew makes historic dragon boat crossing of Lake Ontario

In a groundbreaking feat of endurance and determination, a group of 31 women made history as the first all-female crew to paddle a dragon boat across Lake Ontario. The team departed from Niagara-on-the-Lake—an hour later than planned due to choppy waters, and battled challenging waves for the entirety of the more than 50-kilometre journey to Toronto. The event was organized to raise funds for Options for Independent Living and Development, a non-profit that has already helped 50 adults with disabilities secure housing and build independent, meaningful lives.
