Alectra Utilities is encouraging its customers to switch to paperless billing amid a potential Canada Post strike set to begin May 22.

Customers who receive their bills by mail will continue to be responsible for paying their bills on time, even if the postal strike delays delivery.

“Switching to paperless billing means never worrying about a missing bill or delayed payment,” Kerry Lakatos-Hayward, Alectra’s director of customer operations said in a statement.

“It’s a fast, secure way to keep your account up to date and avoid late fees.”

To further prepare for postal delays, customers are advised to use the following payment methods:

  • Online or telephone banking
  • In person at a financial institution
  • Pre-authorized payments
  • Credit card
