Peel police aren’t sure yet how it happened, but say they are looking at alcohol-related charges for one of the two drivers involved in an early-morning crash in Brampton that claimed one life.
Witnesses called police around 2 a.m. Sunday, saying there were two cars on fire at the intersection of Bovaird Drive and Torbram Road.
One car had only the driver inside, and managed to stay on its tires, but the other spun around with the impact and ended up on its side.
The front seat passenger of the car on its side, a man in his late 20s, had his seat belt on, but ended up half in and half out of the car and died at the scene.
The condition of the driver of that car has changed throughout the day Sunday, but everyone else is expected to survive.
The victim has not been identified.
Police are looking for witnesses, both of the crash and from anyone who knows what the people involved were doing before the crash happened.
