Air quality concerns rise over rubber fire in Brantford
Concerns over air quality are increasing as a rubber fire in Brantford that started Tuesday evening is still burning.
The fire is contained to an outdoor yard at North West Rubber on Henry St. where the company stores pallets of rubber mats.
Brantford Fire says seven units initially responded to the fire with assistance from Brant County.

At least three crews remain on scene this morning continuing to battle the blaze as the province’s Ministry of Environment tests air quality in the surrounding areas.
Residents have been encouraged to close all doors and windows to limit the amount of smoke getting in their homes.
There is no word on how the fire started or if there was anyone working at the time but the same rubber plant saw a fire in 2019 as well.
