Air Canada and WestJet Airlines ranked the worst among the top 10 airlines for their punctuality in Canada and the United States.

Aviation analytics, Cirium, says Canada’s two biggest airlines ranked lowest for their on-time performance.

According to Cirium, flight arrivals within 15 minutes of the scheduled time are considered to be “on-time.”

About 55.6 per cent of Air Canada’s 143,000 flights were on-time as of mid December.

WestJet was able to achieve 60.7 per cent on-time arrivals of its 89,000 flights.

Cirium says top performer Delta Air Lines had on-time arrivals for about 84 per cent of its 960,000 flights.

The data does not include last week’s travel delays, which were caused by fierce winter storms.
