Accused cop killer back in court
The man charged with killing a Toronto police officer was back in court today.
Richard Kachkar, who is charged with the first-degree murder of Sgt. Ryan Russell, appeared briefly by a video link. The case was put over until Thursday to give him more time to get a lawyer.
The 44-year-old is accused of running down Russell with a stolen snowplow. Kachkar was shot several times before his arrest and when he was in court last week, his arm was in a sling and there were bandages on his nose and neck. He is also charged with the attempted murder of a taxi driver and another police officer.
