7-Eleven expanded alcohol services set for Sept. 5

The American convenience store will start selling beer, wine and ready-to-drink cocktails in Ontario starting Sept. 5.
The company received it’s convenience store liquor licenses from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario last week and is training staff at 58 locations.
The business says the expansion will help create about 60 new jobs across the country.
The 24-7 convenience store will be able to sell alcohol from noon to 11 p.m. at many locations with expanded dine-in options.
There are currently two licensed locations in Ontario that allow drinking inside of the store.

The Ontario government rushed the addition of ready-to-drink cocktails to grocery and convenience store shelves in July, while workers of the province’s main liquor retailer were on strike.
The plan to expand alcohol sales was originally set in place to be implemented by 2026, but was fast-tracked by the Ford government in May.
At the beginning of August grocery stores licensed to sell beer, wine and cider were able to sell large-pack sizes of alcohol and ready-to-drink cocktails.
Newly licensed grocery stores will be able to sell alcohol starting October 31.
