53-year-old man dies after motel fire in Cambridge

Waterloo police say a 53-year-old man has died after a fire at a motel in Cambridge.

Emergency crews were called to a motel on Hespeler Road around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday following reports of a fire in one of the rooms.

Firefighters cleared the motel and quickly extinguished the flames, but a 53-year-old man was transported to hospital and pronounced dead.

Officers say the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, and they are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal who is leading the investigation.
