The spirit of the holiday season was alive at the “Christmas in the City Market” on Sunday.

The market is put on by the Christmas Run organization, which has hosted this event for more than 40 years.

There were local entrepreneurs and artists of all kinds set up at McMaster Innovation Park.

The event raises money in support of families in crisis or medical situations, including those in palliative care at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Samantha Chiarelli says her aunt started the market 44 years ago to help better the lives of people struggling in the community.

“We have the seniors, we have the young folks, we have a bit of everyone coming together. Fundraising is important, especially in our community to help those in need,” says Chiarelli.

If you missed the market this year, make sure to add it to your calendars next year for their big 45th-anniversary celebration.
