A man pulled from a burning apartment on Hamilton Mountain earlier this month, has died from his injuries.

The fire broke out in a low-rise apartment building at around 8:52 a.m. on Oct. 4, at 987 Mohawk Rd. East between Regency Street and Moxley Drive.

While searching inside, firefighters found a 34-year-old man who was unresponsive.

They successfully revived and transported him to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died Monday.

The man’s name has not been released.

Three other people were rescued and transported to hospital, where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall is still working to find exactly where the fire started, the exact cause of the fire and the ignition sequence associated with the fire.

An investigation by the Hamilton police arson unit has determined the cause of the fire was accidental.

Fire crews said the apartment suffered significant damage, and two apartments below the burning unit also suffered water damage.

Officials, at the time, estimated the damage costs to be around $500,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Greg Blunsdon with Hamilton police at 905-540-5085.
