3 teens arrested after St. Catharines fight results in severe stabbing

Niagara police have arrested three teenagers in connection to a fight involving six people Thursday night in St. Catharines.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of St. Paul Street West and Edith Street a little before 11 p.m.

Investigators learned that six males were involved in a fight that escalated, resulting in two people being stabbed by three male teenagers.

“One male was with his son and his son’s friend, and the 46-year-old male and the 15-year-old male were the victims of the stabbing,” Niagara police told CHCH News.

The injured man and teenager were provided aid and housed in a nearby establishment until emergency crews arrived.

The man was reported to have sustained minor injuries but the teenager was sent to an out-of-region hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Police say that the injured teen is currently in stable condition.

Detectives say they have identified and arrested two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old connected to the stabbing.

Officers say each has been charged with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.

The three teenagers are being held pending a bail hearing scheduled to take place Friday in a St. Catharines courthouse.
