3-year-old girl dies after going missing at Binbrook Conservation Area

The 3-year-old died after going missing on a family outing to the Binbrook Conservation Area.
Friends and family of the little girl, a group of 30 people or more, were barbequing and picnicking by the lake at the Conservation area when Zahra Ousmane went missing from the group late Saturday.
Her parents began searching for Zahra and called the police to report her missing. About an hour later, her body was found in the lake about 25 meters from shore.
Const. Sara Beck from Hamilton Police said, “Zahra was found in the water by kayakers at 7:50 p.m. She was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. At this time, we do not believe Zahra’s death is suspicious.”
There are no surveillance cameras in the area, and police are asking anybody who might have seen the girl wander away from her family or have video of the area at the time to give them a call.
