28-year-old man arrested after downtown Hamilton stabbing

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in downtown Hamilton early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., police were called to the area of King Street and Victoria Avenue North following reports of a stabbing.

Authorities were informed that a man had been injured and the suspect remained in the area.

Once on scene, police located a 26-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his torso. Officers provided first aid before the man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The man allegedly responsible for the stabbing was located within minutes and taken into custody without incident.

As a result, the 28-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
