Bikers from the Hamilton-Burlington area set the region apart today as one of the leading fundraisers in the country, if not the world.

They took part in the annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, where men and women put on their best clothes for the critical task of raising awareness for men’s health issues.

When this bike gang took to the road in Hamilton, the men were set apart by tweed jackets, bow-ties, and business suits. Women dressed for the occasion as well, and even sidecar buddies were ready to roll in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Organizers say 124 riders took part in the ride to change the traditional male attitude toward their health, specifically prostate and mental health.

This event in Hamilton is part of a day of gentlemen’s rides in cities across the country and around the world. But organizers say Hamilton stands out in Canada as a heavy hitter in fundraising. They raised almost $130,000 this year.

One of the Hamilton riders, Joe Mancinelli, is listed as one of the top gentleman’s ride fundraisers in the world. He alone raised more than $93,000.
