20-year-old pair arrested following armed carjacking in Stoney Creek

Two 20-year-olds have been arrested following an armed carjacking in Stoney Creek on Monday morning.
Hamilton police say they were initially called to the area of Queenston Rd. and Donn Ave. around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a white Jeep Cherokee driving erratically.
Police followed the Jeep to King St. East and Battlefield Dr. where the driver tried to steal someone’s vehicle, brandishing a gun.
Officers were able to arrest the male driver and female passenger of the Jeep, and located a loaded handgun.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with seven separate offences, including robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and dangerous operation.
A 20-year-old woman faces charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police say both accused remain in custody.
