2 dead, 3 in hospital after crash involving school bus in Caledon

Two people are dead and three others are injured following a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Caledon Tuesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Heart Lake Road between Mayfield to Old School roads.

Officers say the school bus was carrying a driver and one student, who was not injured, while there were five people in the other SUV.

Update 1 (cont): One has been pronounced deceased at the scene & four others have been transported to hospital (one of which sustained serious injuries). Heart Lake Rd remains closed as investigation continues. More info will be shared when available. Please avoid area.

Police say one person died at the scene and four people from the SUV were taken to hospital, one of whom later died.

The stretch of Heart Lake Road is expected to remain closed to traffic for several hours due to the investigation.
