People in Rockton were traveling back in time on this holiday Monday.

A re-creation of a battle from the war of 1812 took place at Westfield Heritage Village, with actors portraying American and British combatants bringing to life all of the sights and sounds from a real battle. The period costumes and firing rifles emphasized the experience of life in Upper Canada during the time of war. The Hamilton and Niagara regions saw a lot of action during the real war of 1812. There are a number of historical sites in the area including Battlefield Park in Stoney Creek and Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
