18-year-old charged in connection with Hamilton stabbing

An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Hamilton that sent one person to hospital Friday evening.

Police say they responded to a reported stabbing at a plaza found at 65 Mall Rd. shortly after 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a wound to his leg that is believed to have been caused by an edged weapon.

The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, police have arrested an unidentified 18-year-old man who now faces two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of uttering threats to cause death.

Detectives believe this to be a targeted incident.
