13-year-old receives assault and weapons charges after theatre disturbance

Brantford police say a 13-year-old boy has received assault and weapons charges after a disturbance at a theatre.
Police say on Saturday, April 9, at around 9:00 p.m., a 13-year-old, along with three other youth were being disruptive and showed threatening behaviour in a theatre on King George Road.
Officers say they received a report that the 13-year-old was in possession of a knife and was reported to have verbally threatened and was assaultive towards a 37-year-old man.
Police say the 13-year-old was waiving the knife towards multiple people and that a toy gun was also used during the disturbance.
No injuries were reported as a result.
Officers say the four youth fled the scene on foot once police were called.
The 13-year-old was eventually identified, located and arrested on Sunday.
As a result of the investigation, police say the 13-year-old stands charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and causing a disturbance.
The identity of the 13-year-old will not be released as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
