Almost 50 firefighters responded to a house fire in Fort Erie overnight.

The Fort Erie Fire Department responded to a call to Dominion Road around 2:15 am. A family of eight, including six children, were home at the time. All managed to escape unharmed.

Investigators are still working on determining the cause of the fire, but it is believed the fire started on the porch and spread to the home, says Fort Erie Fire Chief Larry Coplen. Damage is estimated at $175,000-$200,000.
