11 deaths from crashes over Thanksgiving weekend, OPP reports

Ontario Provincial Police say 11 people have died in vehicle crashes over the Thanksgiving weekend across the province.

The police department released a report Thursday afternoon detailing the results of Operation Impact Campaign where officers monitored traffic on and off the roads more closely for four days overseeing Thanksgiving weekend.

The report reads that seven vehicle occupants, one pedestrian and three off-road vehicle riders were killed over the three-day weekend.

Officers laid a total of 8,870 traffic-related charges, including speeding, stunt driving and impaired and distracted driving violations.
