$1.5M worth of stolen vehicles recovered from Burlington warehouse

Two men have been arrested after 17 stolen vehicles estimated to be worth $1.5 million were recovered.

Last month, Halton police started investigating two suspects believed to be sending stolen cars abroad.

Police say over the course of the investigation, a number of stolen vehicles entered an industrial warehouse in Burlington and were later seen being loaded onto sea containers.

Working with the Canada Border Services Agency, the containers were inspected, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicles.

Police carried out a search warrant at the warehouse on Oct. 24, and arrested two men connected to this investigation.

Maxwell Asante, 39, from Brampton is facing nine counts of trafficking stolen property obtained by crime.

Isaac Osei Appiah, 37, also from Brampton is facing six counts of trafficking stolen property obtained by crime.

Police say a warrant has been issued for a third man.
