Dav Pilkey’s popular children’s novel series comes to theatres – flip-o-rama and all – in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. The film is directed by Toronto native David Soren (Turbo) and features the voices of Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Nick Kroll, Thomas Middleditch, Jordan Peele, and Kristen Schaal.

The film centers on the friendship between two creative and mischievous fourth-grade boys, who accidentally turn their mean principal into Captain Underpants, a bumbling superhero of their own creation.

Soren can still remember the time he discovered Pilkey’s books. “It was twenty years ago, I had just moved to Los Angeles, and I discovered the first Captain Underpants book at a bookstore. I picked it up and read half of it right there in the aisle,” he recalls. “Years later, once I had kids of my own, we read it again together, then the next book, and the next, until we’d devoured the entire series and were sore from laughter. Needless to say, when I was approached to direct the movie, I was all in!”

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie is rated G.
