Boy, 14, charged in St. Catharines convenience store robbery

First Published:

Niagara police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old boy in connection with a robbery at a convenience store in June.

Officers responded to the store near Lake St. and Russell Ave. in St. Catharines shortly after 2:30 p.m. on June 16.

Investigators said one of the suspects entered the store while the other suspect stayed outside to watch. The person inside attempted to steal from a shelf before a store employee noticed.

The employee tried to stop the suspect from taking the items, but the other suspect entered the store and a fight broke out.

Both suspects then fled the store on bicycles.

On Aug. 9, police arrested and charged a 14-year-old boy from Welland with robbery and disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Investigators are still searching for the second male suspect described as between the ages of 18 and 25, six-foot-one, 160 lbs and has medium-length black curly hair. He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt with images of Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, black shorts and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead detective at 905 688 4111, option #3, ext. #1009495.
