A group of pride supporters camped out at Hamilton City Hall

First Published:

They call it “Camp Chaos Gays” those participating have said the encampment is a message to City Hall.

The outrage began at the Pride event at Gage Park in June. When violence broke out between protesters and those at the celebration.

Since then, these protesters say its been a constant stream of hurtful actions or inactions from Hamilton police and City Hall.

Adding fuel to the fire were the arrests of several people who support the LGBTQ community.

LGBTQ supporters say protests like the yellow vests at City Hall every weekend foster an environment of intolerance and hate in response, the city council has been looking at ways to monitor protests more closely.

The organizer of the encampment says there will be several de-briefing sessions throughout the weekend to allow community members to share feelings and support each other.
