Shopping spree to help those less fortunate

The students at Burleigh Hill Public School in St. Catharines went on a ten thousand dollar shopping spree at Canadian Tire Friday. They’re not buying gifts for themselves, but for kids that are much less fortunate this Christmas. They walked in to the Glendale Canadian Tire store with a tune on their lips and lots of cash in their pockets.

These Burleigh Hill School students are kids shopping for kids who have much less than they do. The students raised money by collecting donations outside Canadian Tire.

Burleigh Hill is known as the little school with the big heart. Each student was armed with a wish list and 300 dollars.

Maria Carfagnini started this fundraiser 16 years ago. This year Canadian Tire kicked in 5,000 dollars

What started out as contributions of Canadian Tire money 16 years ago has grown into donations of cash totalling tens of thousands of dollars.

They filled 21 carts with christmas gifts and rolled them across the street to the school gym.

The gifts were loaded into the “Community Care” truck to be delivered to needy families on Christmas.
