The Federal and Provincial Governments teamed up to provide about $100 million dollars to help expand Toyota’s manufacturing operations in Woodstock and Cambridge.

Toyota is spending $421 million dollars in new equipment in it’s Cambridge and Woodstock assembly plants.

The project will only create 25 new jobs but secures the jobs of the 8000 workers at the Cambridge and Woodstock plants.

The upgrades will help with production of the next generation of Lexus vehicles and Canada’s Minister of State says the deal will have a long lasting impact on the Canadian economy.

Toyota says it will also build a higher value vehicle at its Cambridge plant, but hasn’t identified the model yet.
