There is controversy at the Ottawa Street business improvement area, after a sticky note titled “exile list” was leaked to businesses on the street. Adam Atkinson spoke to a few of the business owners to be exiled, and says they are outraged that such a list existed.
“I was given the note by Tony Mark, the administrative coordinator of the BIA. He told me the names on the list. I was not to promote them, take their calls, or speak to them.” Lauren Olsen knew that she would likely lose her job, but she showed the exile list to the owners of the 4 food trucks, and 7 businesses on the list.
“I don’t blame her, I didn’t get along with her but she’s got my full respect and admiration for coming out with this and say yes these people discriminate against the people they don’t like.” Dave Sanders owns Renegade Tattoo on Ottawa Street North and he’s not shocked to be on the list, but disgusted that there even is one.
No one from the Ottawa Street BIA returned our call and when we went there to speak to somebody there was nobody inside and the doors were locked.
There is supposed to a be a meeting at the BIA starting at 9:30 tomorrow.
