Police Service dog Maverick dies

Hamilton Police are thanking people for the outpouring of sympathy over the death of one of their service dogs.

Maverick died from sudden medical issues on Friday. He’s been with his partner, Constable Johnny Sabatini since 2009. Maverick played a key role during many police operations. He was trained to detect human scent, narcotics, firearms and currency.

The eight year old German Shepherd had just four shifts left before he was set to retire.
