Lip cancer study
Researchers say patients taking common blood pressure drugs for long periods of time may have increased risk for lip cancer.
The drugs nifedipine and hydrochlorothiazide make patients more sensitive to sunlight.
Researchers compared over 700 patients diagnosed with lip cancer to thousands of people without the disease.
They found the longer patients were on the drugs, the higher their risk for lip cancer.
However, experts say the benefits of taking blood pressure medications outweigh the low risk of getting the disease.
