Southern Ontario is under a special weather statement tonight after Environment Canada called for wind gusts of up to 80 kilometres this evening.

One Welland family is already cleaning up after a 12-metre tree slammed into their home. Luckily, Evarist Tremblay and Karen Edwards were not hurt when the tree can tumbling down. The exterior of the home got the worst of it. The ceiling in the kitchen has caved in and the screen door leading to porch was also destroyed. Damage to the family home is estimated at over $30 000.
