More and more criminals are giving up robbing banks in favour of a safer and more lucrative field: identity theft.

It’s such a big business nowadays that Canada has even officially opened an identity theft support centre in Vancouver. The centre aims to combat everything from stolen social insurance numbers, to the folks impersonating others to get bank loans.

But since a lot of this theft happens in the comfort of our homes as we surf the net, the onus is on us to protect ourselves online.
