Canadian dementia plan

The World Health Organization is raising an alarm about how Canada is going to deal with a rise in dementia cases.

The WHO and Alzheimer Disease International finds there are 7.7-million new cases every year.

And the number of global dementia cases is set to triple by 2050.

Of the WHO member countries, only eight have plans in place to deal with the disease.

The Alzheimer Society of Canada says the report should be a wake-up call for Ottawa.

That organization has previously noted dementia will affect over a million Canadians in less than 25 years.
